Mimi's Bakehouse

Challenge

Possibly the best brief we have ever had. The client came to us with a wallpaper sample and a wish to open a café where everyone who entered felt like they had had a hug. We were to design the brand from scratch, everything from printed promotional material, menus and packaging design to interiors and photographs of Mimi’s family.

Solution

We took all our inspiration from the cheeky retro wallpaper that the client brought to us when we first met. The paper features three girls carrying cakes. These girls became our brand gatekeepers. Everything we designed, we looked to the girls for approval. Eskimo looked after every detail of the identity from strategy and planning to launch and beyond.

Outcome

The strong branding has helped Mimi’s Bakehouse become a very successful Edinburgh landmark within less than a year. People book to visit from across the globe. The focused, talented and hardworking Mimi’s family has ambitious growth plans and are enjoying queues out the door every weekend. This has already led to the opening of a new extension, designed by Eskimo. Commended at the Scottish Design Awards for Corporate Identity.
